The way "Fatherhood" is drawn is a play on the movie title "Boyz N the Hood" directed by John Singleton which is also where I drew part of my inspiration.
A little while back I spoke of my attempts at a new technique in hopes of being able to draw with less sketchy strokes, which I love to do by the way. Well without further ado below is the finished result. Hope you like... I drew this with my Samsung Galaxy Note as well as MSPaint and added mild touches in photoshop. The title of this piece is "Fatherhood". I drew this piece in honor of Father's Day, father's everywhere and in honor of my own father. I could litter this post with hundreds of quotes, proverbs and honorable sayings about the subject of fatherhood, but I'll choose one from my actual father..."Hah, now you see what I was talkin' about". lol The way "Fatherhood" is drawn is a play on the movie title "Boyz N the Hood" directed by John Singleton which is also where I drew part of my inspiration. The way I morphed the letters is a message in itself. In the movie, there's a father named Furious Styles (played by the multi-award winning and very talented actor Laurence Fishburne ) who has the daunting task of raising his young son up to be a man in one of the toughest urban neighborhoods in America, Crenshaw in South Central L.A.. The movie is filled with tough choices and tough lessons which Furious is a part of teaching. There's a scene in the movie where all Furious can do is wait to see if his son makes the right decision based off of his upbringing. It is a very powerful and intense scene in the movie which is why I chose it to draw from. I have nothing against Carl Winslow from Family Matters, Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bell Air or Heathcliff Huxtable from the Cosby show but I can truly relate to James Evans from Good Times and definitely Furious Styles. This image is real to me and touches home. My hat goes off to all the fathers reading this regardless of your struggle or your story. Happy belated Father's Day.

Love this post... The whole thing. Your artwork, as always, is amazing. But I also like how you explained your process: the tools you used as well as where your inspiration comes from.
