The way "Fatherhood" is drawn is a play on the movie title "Boyz N the Hood" directed by John Singleton which is also where I drew part of my inspiration.
A little while back I spoke of my attempts at a new technique in hopes of being able to draw with less sketchy strokes, which I love to do by the way. Well without further ado below is the finished result. Hope you like... I drew this with my Samsung Galaxy Note as well as MSPaint and added mild touches in photoshop. The title of this piece is "Fatherhood". I drew this piece in honor of Father's Day, father's everywhere and in honor of my own father. I could litter this post with hundreds of quotes, proverbs and honorable sayings about the subject of fatherhood, but I'll choose one from my actual father..."Hah, now you see what I was talkin' about". lol The way "Fatherhood" is drawn is a play on the movie title "Boyz N the Hood" directed by John Singleton which is also where I drew part of my inspiration. The way I morphed the letters is a message in itself. In the movie, there's a father named Furious Styles (played by the multi-award winning and very talented actor Laurence Fishburne ) who has the daunting task of raising his young son up to be a man in one of the toughest urban neighborhoods in America, Crenshaw in South Central L.A.. The movie is filled with tough choices and tough lessons which Furious is a part of teaching. There's a scene in the movie where all Furious can do is wait to see if his son makes the right decision based off of his upbringing. It is a very powerful and intense scene in the movie which is why I chose it to draw from. I have nothing against Carl Winslow from Family Matters, Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bell Air or Heathcliff Huxtable from the Cosby show but I can truly relate to James Evans from Good Times and definitely Furious Styles. This image is real to me and touches home. My hat goes off to all the fathers reading this regardless of your struggle or your story. Happy belated Father's Day.

Over the past few weeks I have been bringing to you some of the most talented and inspiring artists I know. One of those posts has recently become the inspiration for a post itself! Sophie Colverson @SophziDesign a Freelance Graphic Designer out of Basingstoke, UK publishes a website dedicated to inspirational designs. Miss Colverson is "passionate about beautiful sights & sounds, new ideas, tech & interactive media, social media, virtual worlds & creative people." Check out the post below: http://paper.li/SophziDesign/1329910214?edition_id=090bbd40-cc6e-11e3-b7b6-00259071bfed
or follow Sophie @ twitter.com/SophziDesign for other inspiring designs! The next Inspirational Artist I'm pleased to bring your way is a really cool dude by the name of Harvey Cahn out of Donaldsonville Louisiana. But Mr. Cahn has also made quite a name for himself as CahnArtist. CahnArtist or Cahn as I call him, has a design style which is a combination of real photos and artwork using Adobe Photoshop and Traditional art. He came up with the idea of infusing the two mediums because as a kid his two favorite films were "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and "Cool World" ...Toons in the Real World. His images are not only thought provoking they are the epitome of vivid which also matches his imagination! Here are just a few of his immaculate works! Cahn and I collaborated on this piece I like to call "The Art of Seduction". This was one of my first line drawings I did which he colored using Photoshop. Cahn's style inspired such drawings by me as this one of my oldest sister teaching computer class... and this... I had to turn Cahn's vision into a hot animation out of respect and appreciation for making me look at art differently. Check out his latest art pieces and projects on:
instagram.com/cahnartist cahnartist-world.tumblr.com www.facebook.com/cahnartist82 The word "unusual" is oftentimes used to describe things that are abnormal, weird or perhaps gross. Abnormalities aren't something people tend to welcome openly into their lives. However, in this regard, unusual is AWESOME and should be observed! This next "Inspirational Artist's" name is Sarah Rosado or Sarah Artwork. Sarah is a photographer and illustrator from New York who I've had the privilege of knowing for several years. She has a very cool and unique style all her own and produces very captivating imagery. One such image was created for me of me by Sarah in celebration of Halloween. Since then her art has gotten dirtier! In August of last year Sarah was featured in Complex Magazine and when asked about her "unusual" pieces she had this to say: "The idea for my dirt collection was inspired by online artists who created art using food and other items. I wanted to challenge myself to do something totally different to what I was used to doing and unlike anything ever seen before. That's how my dirt collection was created." Below are some of her sensational soil samples! This is a picture I drew of Sarah to show my gratitude of how hands...gruesome she made me. Check out more of Sarah's Artwork on her website!
This next Inspirational artist is a guy from Oklahoma City I've had the privilege of knowing for some time now. His name is Kyle Chaney his handle is "The Artist" which fits perfectly. To say he's a very well rounded artist would be an understatement. His coloring abilities are phenomenal with photoshop, color pencil as well as paint! He has excellent storytelling abilities and he can illustrate as well as motivate. He's an all around cool guy and friend who inspired me to delve into many different forms of art such as photoshop and exploring painting wall murals more. It was my pleasure to depict him in this animation where he's breaking down a barrier. Below is just a small sample of his elaborate and impressive portfolio. The Spider-Man image, he didn't draw but he did a knock-out job of coloring a few years ago. This is a self portrait of "The Artist"...a true selfie! This is a wall mural he did in a smoke shop. This image is of the Hulk. He did that in Photoshop CS5.5. This is a drawing of his character he drew a while back. This image was drawn by Ace Continuado, colors by Kyle Chaney. This image was also drawn by Ace. The colors and digital touches were added by Kyle. Below are 2 photographed images of me which Kyle photoshoped. Not only are these images inspirational they showcase his abilities and also what is possible when using photoshop. On the right is Kyle's rendition of a character of mines. I think he captured him well. You can check out more of his creations on his Deviant Art page @ http://kyle-chaney.deviantart.com/
